｢アンコールワットに走る子供｣
 

｢この国は悲しい事をたくさん経験している。｣　

それがカンボジアについたときの最初の印象であった。

しかし、道端の小さな女の子を見かけると、

最初に感じた悲しさ以上の｢何か｣を直感的に感じた。

私は無我夢中で走っている男の子の後を追いだした。

そして、急いでシャッターを押した。

この写真はカンボジアに来て一番初めに撮ったものである。

この作品が生まれた時に感じたその｢何か｣は今日に至るまで私の心に深く刻まれている。

“A Boy Runnning To Angkor Wat”
 

My first impression upon arriving in Cambodia was :

“This country has experienced too much sadness.” 

But, watching the little girl I met on the street,

I instinctively realized that there was “something” more than that

“sadness” that I had initially felt. And almost subconsciously,

I started following the running boy. In a rush of emotion,

I pressed the shutter. This is the first picture I took in Cambodia.

That “something” that I felt when I made this image has stayed with me to this day,

deeply engraved in my heart.
